SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
Full-Time Position, Pay Grade 7
Starting Salary: $20.15/hour
Closing Date: Until Filled
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement
- Ability to learn to operate all equipment of Vac-con Truck
- At least 18 years of age
- Ability to lift 125 pounds
- High school diploma or GED
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty or responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of what is required in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are illustrative and not exhaustive. Omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. The Crew Assistant will learn and assist the Crew Leader in all aspects of these duties.
- Cleans sewer mains and service laterals using high pressure jet cleaner
- Removes and replaces manhole covers
- Inspects manholes to locate stoppage
- Locates cleanouts and removes cleanout covers
- Assists digging crews by clearing lines
- Flushes out wastewater treatment plants using jet-vac
- Uses jet-vac in areas that require careful digging, such as near electric, fiber optic, gas, and chlorine lines
- Keeps daily and monthly logs. Prepares reports for work assignments, work completed, time and materials used, and any pertinent information as required by Cityworks
- Directs the operation of all equipment associated with jet cleaning equipment in accordance with relevant safety procedures
- Operates water pumps, hydraulic equipment, and vacuum equipment associated with jet cleaning equipment
- Conducts daily and weekly equipment checks. Services, adjusts, and makes minor repairs to equipment machines and attachments
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work with various hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to make logical decisions based on training and experience.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment.
- Ability to work in a responsible manner when around moving machinery and high-pressured jet cleaners.
- Ability to work in or around traffic, underground utilities (waterlines, electric, gas, phone/fiber, cable TV, storm water, sewer lines, etc.)
- Ability to work around hazardous materials and gases.
- Must have a good safety record, understanding the operation of the jet cleaners and the safety issues involved in this equipment.
- Must be in good physical condition.
- Must provide support to other employees in a team atmosphere.
- Must comply with on-call schedule.
Some additional training/certifications may be required and may be made available by NLRW.
