North Little Rock Wastewater

Sustainability Initiative

At North Little Rock Wastewater, sustainability is not just a buzzword – it's at the core of everything we do. We're committed to pioneering initiatives that not only enhance the efficiency of our operations but also contribute to a greener, more sustainable future for our community. Here's a glimpse into our sustainable endeavors.

Harnessing Solar Power

One of our proudest achievements is the ownership of an 850-kilowatt solar array situated at the Five Mile Creek Water Reclamation Facilities. This state-of-the-art solar installation not only helps power our operations but also reduces our carbon footprint. By harnessing the power of the sun, we're moving towards cleaner, renewable energy sources.

Interceptor Renewal for Longevity

We believe in preserving the longevity of our infrastructure in an eco-friendly manner. Our 10-Year Interceptor Renewal Plan is a testament to this commitment. With a focus on rehabilitating larger diameter sewer lines that have served our community for over 50 years, we employ Cured In-Place Pipe technology. This cutting-edge approach breathes new life into these vital interceptors, extending their service for another half-century while minimizing the need for resource-intensive replacements.

Efficiency Through Technology

In our digital age, technology plays a pivotal role in sustainability. Using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and remote telemetry, we're able to closely monitor our pumping stations and critical treatment facilities. This real-time monitoring reduces the necessity for daily physical site visits of the 72 pumping stations and critical facilities at four treatment plants, significantly curbing fuel consumption and vehicular emissions. By embracing these advancements, we're optimizing our operations while reducing our environmental impact.

Our Promise to the Future

North Little Rock Wastewater is more than a utility provider – we're stewards of our community's well-being and the environment. Our sustainability initiatives go beyond short-term gains; they're a promise to safeguard the quality of life for generations to come. Through innovative projects like our solar array, interceptor renewal plan, and technology-driven operational enhancements, we're creating a greener, more sustainable regional sewer system for North Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle and Pulaski County regions.

As we march forward, our commitment to sustainability remains unwavering. By embracing forward-thinking practices and technologies, we're not only ensuring the efficient management of wastewater but also leaving a positive impact on our environment. Join us on this journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow.
